New campaign to encourage city exploration launches

Tourism New Zealand has initiated a domestic campaign called Re_View your City, which promotes the exploration of home city centers and encourages people to relish dining, nightlife, and other activities. The objective of the campaign is to assist in the recovery of New Zealand's cities and their attractions, restaurants, and cultural activities from the effects of COVID-19 and the "stay at home" trend. Rene de Monchy, the CEO of Tourism New Zealand, stated this. The Re_View your City campaign primarily focuses on the city centers of Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch. A massive karaoke event featuring popular New Zealand songs was held on March 7th in Auckland to launch the campaign. The event saw the lyrics displayed on the Stock Market boards at Britomart.

According to de Monchy, the data indicates that visitation to the city centers has declined since COVID-19. Therefore, the campaign was launched to persuade individuals to visit their cities and experience what it offers, including museums, galleries, restaurants, retail stores, and urban spaces. In collaboration with regional tourism organizations, the Re_View your City campaign was created to bolster central cities and increase tourism during the autumn months.
