How does New Zealand eTA/eVisa work?

Since 2019, travelers from visa-waiver countries who want to travel to or transit in New Zealand require NZeTA/eVisa (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority). The authorization is linked electronically with your passport and is valid for two years or until the expiration date of your passport, whichever date comes first. A New Zealand eTA/eVisa allows eligible citizens to travel to New Zealand for tourism, transit, or business purposes without having to send their passports to the New Zealand Embassy.
